1. Who is eligible?
Any City of Chino Hills resident youth aged 6-12 years old. Child must be at least 6 years old at the start of day camp. Scholarship eligibility is based upon a combination of your family size and household annual gross income. Families are defined as parent(s) / guardian(s) and dependents all living at the same address.
2. Can I apply for a scholarship for my grandchild, niece, nephew, or other relative?
To apply for a scholarship for a child, you must be the parent or legal guardian of the child.
3. What do I include for household monthly gross income?
Income received by all adults in the household should include: Income includes wages, salaries, tips, unemployment income, child support payments, TANF benefits, and SSI or SDI payments. This amount is the pre-tax gross income.
4. Who should be counted as members of the household?
All members living in in the same household, even if he/she will not be registering for a class during the term. Household income and family size are used to determine scholarship program eligibility.
5. What additional information is required to submit an application?
Proof of income and residency must be submitted along with the completed application. All information on the application must be completed. If a question does not apply, please indicate N/A.
6. How will I know if I am accepted?
You will be notified in writing 3 weeks after application has been received. A letter will mailed to the address listed on the application notifying you whether or not you have been awarded a scholarship.
7. I was awarded a scholarship last year, am I eligible to re-apply?
Yes, you may submit an application every year, however new applicants, or applicants who have never received a scholarship are granted priority.
8. I haven’t done this year’s current tax return?
The previous years tax return may be be used.
9. Can I register my child and then get reimbursed?
No. The Chino Hills Community Foundation will not reimburse the parent or legal guardian. Payment will be made directly to the City of Chino Hills by the Chino Hills Community Foundation.
